Temple of the Dog

Here are some photos from my last visit to the dog park. I hope I get to go again soon before it gets too cold. It's starting to feel so chilly out, I'm already shivering. Must be the chihuahua in me. Makes me miss the days when I lived in LA and could spend hours outside basking in the sun all year long with my Maltese buddy Bailey and my Yorkie girlfriend Pepper. Ah, the good ole days.

Girl in the Mirror

I much prefer to be behind the camera, but as I am beginning this journey and meeting all of my new friends, I have decided to share a few more photos of myself. I am not always photogenic and look different in many pictures, perhaps because I am a mixture of different breeds. I definitely have a lot of long-haired chihuahua in me, but have been told I also could have papillon, tibetan spaniel, and many other breeds. The truth is nobody knows for sure. I'm just Audrey, an original.

There Goes the Neighborhood

After my grandpa stopped by the other day, I got to go over to his house and surprise him and grandma! First things first, I ran all around and left pee messages everywhere on their street...
And across the street...
And all over the yard...
Then I ran inside and guess what I found? My cousin Ollie was in there milling about...
The kitchen smelled so delicious like chicken, and soup, and all sorts of yumminess...
During dinner, after I accepted the fact that no one would sneak me any of that scrumptious food, I sat under the table, staring at my Uncle Jason's feet...
I tried to get a photo of Ollie for you before I left, but he put his head down at the last minute. I guess he is camera shy...
All in all, it was a doggone good day!

Open Arms

I have a new fascination these days, and it's with arms and hands/paws. It's amazing how different they can be. Yesterday I explored this fascination through my art, first with a photo of A's arm. It has lots of hair like mine, but is very long, and he doesn't use it to walk on...
Then I shot one of my cousin Ollie's arm. It's also a lot longer than mine, but at least he walks the right way, on all four. Well, not so much walks, but runs around and bangs into things. He seems like he's still figuring out how to use his limbs. Kids these days...
And then I pondered my own. They look much bigger in this photo then they actually are. I love my paws. I can sit for hours and hours just watching, and licking, and gnawing at them. Aren't they beautiful?
Although A's are pretty tasty, I'll give him that. Especially after he eats. So I guess he can be excused for the whole bi-ped thing. I wish he would eat spare ribs every day. Mmmm... Spare ribs.

It's a Beautiful Day

I was out for a walk this afternoon, much like any other afternoon. The sun was shining, and I was strutting around like I owned the place.
I watched the humans of my town trimming down their pee lawns.
When, all of a sudden, I heard my name! "Audrey, Auuuudreyyyy." It was my grandpa, calling me from inside a car. I rushed to get a photo, but only caught the tail of the car, and my ears or maybe even my tail, I was wagging it so hard I swear it went right over my head.
I ran to keep up as the car rolled down the street, and when it came to a stop and he stepped out, I jumped right up into his arms. That's when I took this photo, at the same time as I was covering his face with licks. I'm quite the multitasker.
One of the best things about moving, is that the grandparents live so close now that I get to see them all the time, even when I'm walking down the street! It was such a nice surprise!

Chasing Pavements

There are a lot of dogs that live in my neighborhood. I don't know many of them well, because whenever they get close I feel inclined to show them that I'm the boss around these parts, even though I'm the newbie. Soooo, they tend not to get too close any more. But they do leave special messages for me in the grass, on the blue hydrants, and around the trees. I love to go sniffing out messages. Today I was on the trail of something really good...
*sniff sniff* Something about Ms. Chippy on Main Street and a secret midnight tryst?
Could it be? *sniff sniff sniff* She was with Sparky? Rolling together in the grass? No way!
And Doobie? Side by side down the sidewalk? *sniff* Oh no, Lady will be very jealous.
Don't worry, I left plenty of messages back along the way. Can't wait to sniff out their responses tomorrow. Someone could make a great show about this place... the Dogs our Lives perhaps, or Dogrose Place?!

Home Sweet Home

One of my favorite past times is napping. Yes, it's true, I'm a napper, big time, and my favorite snooze spot (unless there is a ray of sunlight on the floor that I just can't resist) is the couch under the front windows. It's not only comfy, but I can jump right up if I hear someone or something outside and bark at them so they will stay away. I'm really good at it, trust me. They always keep walking, quickly, out of fear I'm sure. The squirrels run right up trees, and the bunnies quiver under bushes. Here is a glimpse at the views I open my eyes to, depending on which way I position myself for the nap...

Cheeseburger in Paradise

There's nothing better than a good summer barbecue. The smell of meat cooking, the fallen scraps, the distraction of D and A so I can steal said scraps. Ah yes, that's the life. In LA, we used to have huge barbecues and I would eat so much that I could be found passed out asleep with my head next to an uneaten burger patty on the ground. Those were the days. When we moved to NJ those were few and far between, but since we moved into a new house before this summer, I have been in BBQ heaven once again.

Farewell summer. I will be dreaming about your barbecues until you return again next year.
